The 2026 2nd International Conference on Human Geography and Urban-Rural Planning (HGURP 2026) was successfully held online on February 6, 2026. This international conference brought together leading scholars, researchers, and professionals dedicated to advancing knowledge in human geography and urban-rural planning.

The conference featured three distinguished keynote speakers who presented cutting-edge research and insights in their respective fields. Prof. Rui Wang opened the event with a thought-provoking speech on the "Recent Developments of Automated Vehicles and Local Policy Implications," addressing emerging transportation technologies and their impact on urban planning and policy formulation.

Prof. Norzailawati Bt. Hj. Mohd. Noor from the International Islamic University Malaysia shared her expertise on "Revitalising a Mining Heritage Town of Sungai Lembing through Digital Transformation," highlighting innovative approaches to heritage conservation and sustainable urban regeneration via digital tools.

Assoc. Prof. Ding Ding from Xihua University delivered an insightful presentation on the "Research Progress on the Digital Display of Urban-Rural Architectural Heritage in the Age of Artificial Intelligence," emphasizing the role of AI technologies in preserving and promoting architectural heritage across urban and rural landscapes.

In addition to the keynote sessions, HGURP 2026 showcased compelling oral presentations from emerging scholars. Yue Su of Zhengzhou University presented on "Spatial Evolution and Planning Response of Rural Settlements in the Mountain-Plain Transition Zone: A Case Study of Huixian City, Henan Province," providing valuable analysis on rural development dynamics and planning strategies. Zijun Guo from Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University explored "What Explains Disparities in Community Resilience? The Role of Socioeconomic Status and Resilience Factors," offering critical insights into how socioeconomic variables influence community capacity to respond to challenges.
